Start with where your customers are
A Dhaka shop serving customers across Bangladesh and a Dhaka agency building a site for German customers have different needs. For the shop, start with BDIX-connected hosting and test from the mobile and broadband networks customers use. For the agency, test the German location against the alternatives from the client’s market. Your office address alone doesn’t tell you which server will respond fastest.

How to compare the actual response time
Ask for a test address on each location. Test an identical file or page on both servers with the same cache settings. If you test a cached CDN page on one and an uncached WordPress page on the other, the results won’t tell you which location suits your users.
- Use the same device and connection to open each test page. In your browser’s Network panel, select the main document and record the time to first byte (TTFB). This includes the server’s response as well as the network trip.
- Alternate between the two locations five times. Sort the five times for each and compare the middle value. Repeat on a second ISP or mobile network, and from abroad if overseas visitors matter.
- For a shop, also compare a product search or an empty cart. Those pages can behave differently from a cached homepage. A BDIX connection alone does not guarantee the fastest result on every network.
For a new site, write down the visitor locations you expect. For an existing site, use your actual audience distribution. Talk to SiteChai if you need help matching your audience to a plan.
